Bird of Dane County, Wisconsin, relative to his Civil War service in the 11th Regiment and later in the 20th Regiment, Wisconsin Infantry; and commissions conferred upon him by the Grand Army of the Republic, 1903-1908. Also included are his personal military history in his Membership Certificate of Soldiers & Sailors Historical and Benevolent Society, and a brief genealogy of his mother's family (Brayton).
